From November to March the farm slows down. The orchard turns green, the lagoon changes colour in the late afternoon and the sea can be seen from every house. It's the right time to stay a month — or the whole winter.
For stays of 30 nights or more we have our own rates, separate from short stays: a fixed price per house, the same for all five months, and lower the longer you stay. Water, electricity, wi-fi and heating are included.

what stays when summer leaves
the green farm
With the first rains the fields turn green again. Avocado trees around the houses and dirt tracks to walk along.
real quiet
In winter there are few of us on the farm. No music, no traffic, no queues — just birds in the morning and the wind in the orchard.
the sea beyond
The farm looks out over the lagoon and the sea. Clear winter days are the ones that let you see furthest — from every house.
the pool and the lawn
In winter the pool is more scenery than swimming: sun loungers in the sun, grass all around and, in March, a dip for the brave.
empty beaches
Cabanas, Praia da Fábrica and Manta Rota are close by. In January the sand is almost all yours, for a sunny late-morning walk.
the mildest winter
Sunny days, little rain and lunch outdoors. A winter to live outside, on a farm, instead of waiting indoors for it to pass.

The sun rises over the lagoon and warms the threshing floor and terraces early. Coffee outside, a blanket over your shoulders, the sea beyond and the whole day ahead.

The warmest hour of the day is spent by the pool: loungers in the sun, a book, the grass still damp from the morning. It isn't heated — in winter it's mostly for looking at.

A boat to Ilha de Tavira, a walk along the Ria Formosa, the Saturday market or a coffee in the square. All less than twenty minutes away — and almost nobody around.

Far from the lights of the coast, winter nights on the farm are dark and clear. An early dinner, a coat, and the Milky Way above the orchard — then a warm house to come back to.

practical terms
what to know before you decide
The house is reserved with 30% of the price of the stay. The rest is paid on arrival.
The winter rates apply to stays between 1 November and 31 March. If yours starts earlier or ends later, we'll quote the price on request.
Prices are for two people. If more are coming — family, visiting friends — tell us in your request and we'll reply with the price.
On request, depending on the house. Dogs, chickens, ducks, peacocks, sheep and geese live on the farm — tell us who's coming with you.
It stays open but isn't heated. From November to February it's more for looking at than swimming; in March, it depends on your courage.
Recommended. Tavira is seven minutes away and the beaches eight, but the supermarket and day trips call for a car.
